missing u

recently a colleague of mine has decided to leave our department to take a step forward in his career... i congratulate him in making this bold move... on the other hand am a bit depressed knowing his decision... i gonna miss him loads... there're few angels in my workplace and surely he's one... he's probably part of the reason i like my hospital and is definitely a reason why i picked renal medicine... he's the yes-man & never hesitate to teach me the absolute idiot... life is much easier when he sits next to me in the clinic... thanks to his continuous persuasion over the years, i finally have the courage to do renal... yet he'll leave the team on the day i start my training... this is indeed the greatest pity of the year... there's no doubt i like renal medicine but it's gonna be different without him in the team... apparently the boss isn't very fond of his idea... i feel sorry for him having to go through the stress as he's moving up the ladder...

inbox overloaded

i'm not working on such a nice day, finally...

have been quite busy... just returned from heaven geriatrics to semi-hell internal medicine... am in this unique position where i have half male and half female patients, yes, half-half of each sex is a strange arrangement... because of that, i have two seniors and a total of 5 service grand rounds per week... not to mention clinics and endless interviews with patients' relatives... my schedule is designed in a way that manpower is "fully" optimized... there's one very objective index of my workload... i had literally no time to check email so much so my email account was closed for the very first time! though the size of mailbox is small, i managed to clear the trash regularly, even during vacation leaves... all these, together with considerable amount of mails, some of them irrelevant, my mailbox is finally overloaded...

falling sick

took my first ever sick leave today...

i was feeling every funny with my stomach and headache last night... i thought i could do it so i went to work as usual this morning... i kept my mask on the whole day hoping not to get more germs or spread it further... but it didn't do me any good... and make me more hypoxic... i was having senior round when i had this vasovagal attack, again... i didn't really pass out but they said i looked *greyish*... sigh... i think greyish is worse than pale... because corpse is greyish but not pale... the sensation was so familiar... i should have known it and lied down earlier... i was so bad that i left it to my senior to do the round himself...

to make things more complicated, i was scheduled to be on call today... i thought i'm okay after taking a nap... but nah... i keep throwing up whatever i eat... fortunately my nice colleague agreed to swap call with me... the price to pay is i'll have bd clinic tomorrow and even worse, i can't go to chanel mobile art, for a second time, because i don't have postcall half day anymore... i was already quite upset when it was all full when i went last week...

think i'm having this vasovagal once a year... it's always the same pattern of symptoms... and i just couldn't care about it... perhaps i should start reading up a bit more...

btw, treetree, i'm very happy to learn that i was you today and thanks for taking over my patient... i was actually very sick when u're on phone... =))

life in RH

cold

there're so many things that i'd like to update... i'm just a bit too lazy...

have been working in RH... it's said to be a form of rehabilitation for me... quite true... now i have breakfast at home every day... this morning, since it's so cold, i stayed in bed till 8 and left home at 8.40am... and still i was on time for work... isn't it amazing... i think i saved more than an hour a day on travelling... not to mention the gas and tunnel fees...

i have a very heavy load of patients here... i've fallen into the viscous cycle where the other 2 MOs have very few cases and i have plenty... but still quite manageable because i work in the geriatric team... i begin to understand why people in LKB have 30 odd cases and still manage to finish the morning work in 2 hours... when patients cannot speak it saves a lot of time... only 4 out of a dozen patients can vocalise, of which around 1-2 can actually communicate verbally... (i was literally very excited when i could finally talk to my 8th patient on day one...) it saves some more time when majority of them are here for conservative, minimal invasive care... and when they're all in the same ward without the need to walk around... it saves time further!

people are nice here... they're quite senior... not as fun as my mother department where almost anyone would *play* with me... that makes life a bit bored... i've been sending of dozens of sms a day now... chatting with friends... calling up jjj for lunch... things i would never have time to do before... i'm glad jjj's here otherwise i'm absolutely friendless...
