perth trip

i'm back from perth... my birthday getaway... am very happy having no calls and no ward rounds for a week... decided to keep a diary of the trip, please bare with me... photos already uploaded... (i'm highly efficient this time...)

surprised me that perth is actually in the similar longitude (if you still remember your geography) as hong kong... they're in the same time zone... and journey from hong kong to perth is actually shorter than that to sydney or brisbane... weather was fantastic... each day i wake up seeing a blue sky...

visited fremantle on day one... an old port city... i dunno a lot of history... didn't visit all the "sightseeing spots"... it's more a casual kind of trip... seafood at this port was fabulous... had a pretty heavy and enjoyable lunch at the pier... fresh seafood and white wine... wine wasn't too good... i got drunk for the very first time in my life!!! was so damn dizzy and i had this starry vision and i slept on one of the rocks for a while!!! haha... my first ever hangover experience...

sunset coast is the goldcoast equilvalence in western australia... also popular for surfers... but beaches not as nice as those in queensland... anyway we paid a visit... spent some time around and took pictures... had some sun and some fresh air... then we visited the outlets selling kitchenware and furnitures... mum's favourite shops...

day three was very important... it's my bigbigday... started off wandering around the city... also visited the bigbig park... had a fine lunch there... pity we're too sleepy to stay in park and no squirrels was seen... korean food dinner was superb... a very contented evening...

another day spent in margaret river which was four-hour drive from perth city... lots of farms and winery... and for the first time i drove in australia.. very nice roads... but having to keep at 100km/h for an hour was another story... poor yingyingbird did most driving... he's got 7 stars at night... (scale of 0-10, 10 stars being extremely exhausted!) would be better if we could spare another day for the region... which is a country area with farms and winery and nice foods...

took some funny pictures... coming soon...

some hope for the week

slowing we're approaching my birthday week... had fab fab dinner with my luved ones last night... nothing much special... but me very very happy and contented...

for the very first time i'll be out of town on my birthday... the bigbig pity is i'm going to perth without my rabbit... i have to thank him for staying with me yesterday when i had to go through this pre-sunday-call-dysthymia... am so reluctant to face the week... because i've accumulated so many patients... mine is almost the sum of the other three doctors in my ward... how scary... the situation is not getting any better... sigh...

the good news is i'm skipping all the clinics this week becoz i'm on-call sunday and thursday... hurray... was surfing the web for this auzzie trip and am flooded by holiday mood already... just learnt that some more family members will join... long since this kind of big family trip... well kinda look forward...

bigbig hug

was thinking how amazingly we're created... with this perfect length and ratio of upper limbs and trunk... such that we can hug and embrace each other... that all our luved and significant ones, our cuddly soft toys and our own children could be held to our closest proximity... and that we can totally encircle them... the very feeling of hugging was unique and exclusive to human beings... not even the teddy bears... i'm grateful that i'm able to hug and be hugged... i really really love it...

nine-one-one

watched united 93 yesterday... it was heartbreaking... the house wasn't full but i could hear people sobbing everywhere... no one said a word when we left the cinema... i must say i was moved... this is different from other films because i knew it's real... the 911 did not strike me as much before... americans have never had my respect until yesterday... i begin to understand why this day was reminded every year in september... now i agree it's worth mentioning... and i shall remember it, too...

welcome the blue ying

am on call again... my calls are only slightly less frequent than the interns... i have 6 calls over 3 weeks next month... sigh... average 2 calls per week... totally no time to recover... not to mention study... and my tennis facial haircut plans are nowhere...

all the frustration were well balanced because my new blue ying has arrived... look i didn't even have time to mention how excited i am about her... she's gorgeous... i love the colour... and the most exciting thing is the keyless-go system... it's thrilling each time i unlock the door once i touch its handle and started it simply by pressing a button... fab...

ward rounds are quite okay... i had only 8 patients yesterday... my first single digit record... but it will not last... already climbed to 11 today... am expecting 2 dozens next week... because there'll be 1 MO less and my original senior who was on leave in the past 2 weeks is coming back... he's a much more careful person... and i'll keep much much more patients...
