the very trip of the year
the oven's preheating..
here i'm... back from my fabulous dream trip to italy... it's was, fab... hehe... as expected... and sadly... am already back to work, finished a presentation in two days, am post call today and slept for 12 hours in the past three days... there're loads about the trip i wanna share & i think will help whoever'd like to self-travel... let me do it step by step...
first i wanna talk about what i did in england... we literally had nothing to do... our main task there was to visit rabbit's sister... spend time at her new flat... meet people... dine in london restaurants... and to see a muscial or two... it's quite awkward on day one... two of us who hadn't even time to sleep suddenly have to kill time... so we went window shopping in our favourite shops and walks around some favourite streets... like my father, we have some must-dos in london...
let's start with food... we went to bibendum for crab mayonnaise... sadly it's gradually changing from super-thumbs-up on my first visit to i-don't-think-i-needa-come-back-again after my ?fifth visit... it's still good actually... but the feeling of how-amazing-! is long lost... the bread was depressing in particular...
we had french dinner in l'oranger on day one... food is good... it's so good that nothing is going to upset you... however, there's nothing particularly special either...
we had lunch in the wolseley the another day... meant to be one of the best restaurants in london... i was told this is where the super celebrities go... again food was more than perfect... i had an asparagus soup and i'm going to remember it forever... you don't know how well an asparagus soup could be made until u've tasted it... you don't recognise it's asparagus soup because of it's green... but you actually taste fresh asparagus in the well-blended soup... mind you it's not the signature dish there... other dishes were equally finely made... including the bread & the chips...
why don't we go to musicals... the only planned activity in london... we watched two... cabaret & wicked... i'm sorry i was the one who picked cabaret and ordered tickets well in advance... it's rather new... think it's shown in london in the recent 1 to 2 years... apparently it was a famous movie some ages ago... it's about a story of people around a cabaret in germany in the time of nazi... perhaps it's a good show... it's just not my cup of tea... there's not much of props... and even not a need of costumes, because the people just don't wear... they went naked for unknown reasons... suddenly this man came out unclothed... songs were nothing worth noticing... it's simply better to spend the money & time elsewhere...
and i'm glad that we put wicked after carbaret... therefore we had a happy and satisfying ending to the journey... as said... it's wicked! it's newly shown in london this year... a very childlish story as a sidetrack from alice in wonderland... about a strange girl becoming a witch and stories behind... it's simple but rich for a musical... the costume and props are amazing... the kind of things i'd luv to see... very fancy and very well made... the lighting & stage effect stunned me most... remember it's all real without computer techs behind... it's the best that i've ever seen... songs and vocals are all very good... it's only the choreography which is not as perfect as the rest... but that's no big deal... because adding all others has already made it a very fancinating & enjoyable one... i thought rabbit may felt it's a bit girlish... he enjoyed it very much either... there're lots of kids inside but some of the scenes probably scared them... another strongly-recommended after billy elliot...
let's pause here... with the italy bits to come soon...
