imaging
i get a bit upset today by this very wrong and unhealthy phenomenon... why is it whenever we arrange an imaging... people like us get to "beg" the radiologists... i mean aren't we supposed to be working partners???
well okay, imaging is a relatively scarce resource in public hospitals... and there's this tendency that doctors abuse this service... so we need some system to sort of keeping the gate and allocate the right thing to the right patient... look i'm trained, too... most of the time we don't book something that is unecessary... in fact i cannot be bothered to do something unecessary... i'm really really sick of this phenomenon once we're down in xray department, it's like the radiologists are more superior... they sit there while i get to stand and present to them and answer all their questions majority of which do not affect their decisions... and consume every single neurone to beg them to give us the appointment...
they think they do something good and save some money by refusing an investigation... in fact not only a CT scan costs... a CT scan costs ONLY a few thousand... if an imaging is done early it can save days of hospitalisation or perhaps a clinic visit... hospital beds and the nurses and clinicians also cost... the sum can easliy exceed that of a scan... don't be so naive and don't think too much of yourselves my dear radiologists...
